Search Tips
Use the Create a Regimen search method to search multiple drug-drug or drug-food interactions.

Use Find All Interactions to find all listed interactions for a single drug or food.

NOTE:
Only interactions that are cited in the product package inserts are included in the search results. Interactions with inactive ingredients are not included. Check prescribing information for details.

Click the Interactions tab - Look for Create a regimen located on the right side of the page.

  1. Select to search Interactions for a Drug or Food, then type the name of each of the items to be included in the regimen.

    If more than five items are in the regimen, add the number of lines needed using Add more lines .

  2. Click the Search button.

  3. If items need to be defined further (i.e. choosing a brand name for a generic search), select as appropriate.

  4. View or print the resulting Regimen Interactions.

    To view the full PDR document for a listed interaction, click the link on the drug, then select the Find Document button.

    To view a list of all interactions for a drug, click the link on the drug, then select the Find List of Interactions button. To view all interactions for a food, click the link to go directly to the list.

1. Select MULTI-DRUG from the navigation bar.

1. Select the INTERACTIONS tab. Create a Regimen is located on the right side of the page.

2. Type all or part of the name of the first drug you want to check and press the Search button.
- OR -
Click on the first letter of the drug.

2. Select Drugs or Foods from the first drop-down list box, then type all or part of the name of the first drug or food you want to check.
Add additional drugs or foods to the regimen by repeating the steps above on the second, third, fourth, and fifth lines.

If more than five items are in the regimen, type the number of additional lines desired in the box to the right of the word Add, then click the more lines button.


When all drugs and/or foods for a regimen have been entered, press the Search button.

To clear all items from a regimen and start over, press the Clear button.
3. If your search term has multiple matches, you must click to select the food or brand name for clarification.

3. If your search term has multiple matches or needs further definition, you will need to click to select the food or brand name for clarification.

4. The brand name (with the generic name) is added to the list.

4. The next item needing further clarification appears. Select as appropriate. Items that need further definition appear in bold.

The sidebar on the left displays:
Currently Defining - the item the program is working with on this page, and
This Regimen -
the list of drugs/foods in the regimen.
5. Repeat the process for each drug to be placed in the regimen.

To remove a drug from the regimen: select the drug, then click Remove.

To remove all drugs from the regimen: click the Clear Regimen button.

5. You can change the regimen at any time. Click View & Edit Regimen List.

Regimen Interactions lists any potential interactions found in the regimen.

6. When all drugs are listed in the regimen, click the Start Check button.

From the Regimen Interactions page, you can:

  • Edit the regimen - select the View & Edit Regimen List button

  • Add more drugs/foods to the regimen (up to 50 drugs maximum) - select the Add To This Regimen button

  • View or print the resulting Regimen Interactions.

    To view the full PDR document for a listed interaction, click the link on the drug , then select the Find Document button (not available for food items).

    To view a list of all interactions for a drug, click the link on the drug, then select the Find List of Interactions button. To view all interactions for a food, click the link to go directly to the list.


Detailed Help

Use the Create a regimen search method to search multiple drug-drug or drug-food interactions.

Use Find All Interactions to find all listed interactions for a single drug or food.

To Create a Regimen:

  1. Select the Interactions tab from the navigation bar. Look for Create a regimen located on the right side of the page.


  2. Click the down arrow on the first drop-down list box and choose Drugs or Foods.
  3. Type all or part of the name of the first drug or food you want to place in the regimen in the textbox directly to the right of the first Drugs/Foods list box.


  4. Click the down arrow on the second drop-down list box and choose Drugs or Foods.
  5. Type all or part of the name of the second drug or food you want to place in the regimen in the textbox directly to the right of the second Drugs/Foods list box.

  6. If additional drugs or foods are part of this regimen, continue to add them using lines three through five.

  7. If more than five lines are necessary to fully define your profile, enter the number of additional lines needed and press more lines.


  8. When all drugs and foods have been entered, click the Search button.
    To remove all items from the regimen and start over, click the Clear button.

  9. If any of the items in the regimen are a generic drug name, or if there are multiple matches to the search term, the program will present a page with the message: "n of your regimen items need to be better defined before interactions can be calculated. These items are in bold".

    Note in this example that Warfarin, Aspirin, and Glyburide need to be clarified before beginning the search for interactions.

    The first item needing clarification is shown on the right: "Please choose a specific brand or GENERIC for Warfarin".

    If WARFARIN SODIUM is selected, the next page asks for a brand name choice for the generic.
    After selecting a brand name (Coumadin Tablets for WARFARIN SODIUM in this example) the item in the regimen list reflects the choices, and continues with the next item requiring further clarification (if necessary).

    This continues until all items in the regimen are fully defined.





    View & Edit Regimen List:

    Click the View & Edit Regimen List button to view or modify the list of items in the current regimen.




  10. When all items in the regimen have been defined, the resulting potential interactions are displayed. If no interactions are found for an item in the regimen, the following message is displayed: "The labeling of this product lists no interactions with the other products or foods entered."

From the Regimen Interactions you can:

  • View or print the Regimen Interactions

    - or -

  • To view the full PDR document for a listed interaction, click the link on the drug, then select the Find Document button (available for drugs only).

  • To view a list of all interactions for a drug, click the link on the drug, then select the Find List of Interactions button. To view all interactions for a food, click the link to go directly to the list.

  • From the sidebar:

    • View & Edit Regimen List to view or modify the items in the regimen; view all interactions for a single item; or view the PDRŽ document for an item.
    • Add to this Regimen to return to the Create a regimen page to add additional items to the regimen
